Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Journal of Al-Falah is peer reviewed international journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Therefore, preventing publication malpractice is one of the editorial board's important responsibilities. To that purpose, all the actors of Journal of Al-Falah publication, authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial team, are expected to fully adhere to our policy regarding publication ethics and malpractice, and respect the following statements:

Editors Responsibilities

  1. Editors are mandated to evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit. An editor must not utilize unpublished information in their own research without the express written consent of the author.
  2. Editors must ensure that each manuscript received by the journal is reviewed for its intellectual content without regard to sex, gender, race, religion, citizenship, or other such factors. of the authors.
  3. Editors should ensure the integrity of the publication review process. Thus, editors should not reveal authors' identities to reviewers, nor reviewers' identities to authors.
  4. Editors are required to ensure that all information pertaining to submitted manuscripts is maintained in strict confidence prior to its publication.

Editorial Board Responsibilities

  1. The Editorial Board is responsible for determining which submitted articles should be published.
  2. The Editorial Board must ensure that information regarding manuscripts submitted by the authors is kept confidential.
  3. The Editorial Board bears accountability for all content published in the journal; consequently, it possesses complete responsibility and authority to reject or accept an article. However, the published manuscript would not represent the stand or opinion of the Editorial Board and the Management Team of the Journal of Al-Falah, or the Department of Usuluddin and Da’wah, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya.
  4. The Editorial Board should take appropriate measures when ethical complaints are raised regarding a submitted manuscript or published paper. They shall conduct a proper and fair investigation into ethical complaints.

Reviewers' Responsibilities

  1. All manuscripts submitted for review must be handled with strict confidentiality. They are not to be shared or discussed with anyone unless explicitly authorized by the editor.
  2. Reviewers should not have conflicts of interest regarding the research, authors, or funding.
  3. Reviewers should provide judgments as objectively as possible. Reviewers shall not personally criticize the author. Reviewers should articulate their views clearly and substantiate them with supporting arguments.
  4. Should a reviewer be unable to complete the manuscript review within the designated timeframe, they must notify the editor, allowing the manuscript to be reassigned to an alternative reviewer.

Authors' Responsibilities

  1. Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. When incorporating the work or words of others, proper acknowledgment is essential. Plagiarism, in any manifestation, constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is strictly unacceptable.
  2. They must ensure that the manuscript has not been issued elsewhere. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
  3. Authorship should be limited to those who significantly contributed to the study's conception, design, execution, or interpretation. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
  4. If at any point in time, the author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, then the error or inaccuracy must be reported to the editor. If the editor or the publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper.

The ethical statements for this journal derive from the Ethical Code of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Transfer Of Copyright

The Journal of Al-Falah accepts manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not currently being considered for publication by other print or electronic media. The authors agree to transfer the copyright to the Journal of Al-Falah editorial office. However, it can be reprinted with a proper acknowledgement that it was published in Journal Al-Falah.
