Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of academic and educational components, as well as cultural and institutional components, at Qatar University in promoting intercultural dialogue and religious tolerance. The study was driven by a central problem concerning the extent to which educational institutions contribute to fostering the values of civilizational dialogue and peaceful coexistence amid the cultural and intellectual challenges of the contemporary world. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach to explore the reality of institutional efforts at Qatar University, in addition to a quantitative approach for the field component. A structured questionnaire was designed and administered to a sample of (482) participants, including students and faculty members. Data were analyzed using various statistical methods, such as means, standard deviations, correlation coefficients, and Cronbach’s alpha, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results. The findings revealed several significant results, most notably the effectiveness of the academic and educational components with a mean score of (4.17), and a higher level of effectiveness for the cultural and institutional components with a mean of (4.24). The study also demonstrated that the integration of educational, cultural, and institutional dimensions represents a critical factor in promoting a culture of intercultural dialogue. The university environment plays an effective role in developing a balanced cultural awareness among students, based on respect for diversity, acceptance of others, and openness to different cultures. The study recommended maintaining the high level achieved in the academic and educational components through continuous curriculum development in line with contemporary global challenges, enhancing critical thinking and acceptance of others, and introducing interdisciplinary academic courses and programs that focus on intercultural dialogue and religious tolerance to prepare students for active participation in diverse societies.
